Beginner Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Lessons

Our instructor team have a wealth of experience in SUP. We have two ways for beginners to learn either in a SUP taster group session which we run twice daily or a private session with a instructor. During a beginner session you will learn:

1. Water safety & conditions
2. Safest way to to fall
3. Stand up paddle
4. Prone paddle
5. Turning
6. Keeping it fun, safely

Group Beginner Lessons 1hr £25pp (inc. equipment hire) or £15 (with your own board)

Every day we run a turn up and learn group session. They are run on a first come basis, you can hire our equipment or bring your own. This group session which is perfect for clients who would like try paddle boarding or if you are new into the sport and would to gain some confidence. Although it is marked as a beginner session your instructor can also cover more advanced items if appropriate.

Private Beginner Lesson 1hr £38 (inc. equipment hire)

Get the personal touch of a qualified instructor.

This 1 on 1 session is a bit more personal and here to help you pick up the safety side and paddling skills. Our instructor will talk you through the basics and/or cover more advanced techniques if required.

It is a great option for those with their own boards and specific questions.

We will supply you with a board equipment & all safety equipment unless you have your own then please bring it

Advanced Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP)

With a few small tweaks and a bit of coaching you will become an improved paddler with better water skills and less chance of injury. There are many different aspects to Stand up paddle boarding, here are a few of the most popular in the UK:

  • Leisure paddling; to help relax, unwind, have fun with family and friends, see places from a different angle, exercise, enjoy the sun & more
  • Touring; all the above but usually on a more pointy board which is more efficient through the water, or on a more comfortable board, taking food & drinks on a longer paddle
  • Surf SUP; a more extreme type of SUP for adrenaline junkies which takes some skills
  • Racing; for the competitive types who enjoy fitness/training and pushing themselves.

Private Advanced Lesson 1hr £38 (inc. equipment hire)

This is a customised lesson for you and will be a 2 hour lesson with a qualified instructor and advanced paddler, please email us at book@goforth.surf to discuss or pop down and see us. Will begin by discussing what you would like to improve, what aspect of SUP is for you, what equipment would be best and how we can achieve your goals.

  1. Safety elements of SUP
  2. Hitting the water; we will have a 10 minute paddle, then discuss where we think you can improve then repeat
  3. Focus on technique, style, & enjoyment
  4. Custom exercises for you to practice when you are on your own
  5. Recap and discuss what we have found out

  2. How to turn effectively
  3. How to gain balance
  4. How to step back turn
  5. How to go faster
  6. Beach starts
  7. How to build endurance
  8. What equipment is best, safety and much more !

Ready to Race

There are many different race options – A TO B – DOWNWIND – TECHNICAL – LONG DISTANCE SPRINTS – FUN RACES

Be aware RACING is very addictive ! Races take part all around the UK, we can discuss what races you are interested in and can point you in the right direction. Races can range from sprints to endurance distance. Our race coaches have many years of racing experience and often travel to races around the UK and Europe.

Race Lesson (run by appointment)

As this is an advanced race lesson, you must have some paddling experience and be wanting to take the next step up and start racing. You do not have to have a race board but a more pointier touring shape board would help to be more efficient.

This is a customised lesson for you and will last 2 hours. Please email us book@goforth.surf or pop down to discuss, this will be with Emma our senior SUP instructor. We will begin by discussing what you would like to improve, what your goals are, what equipment would be best and how we can achieve your goals.
